The first exercise didn't amount to anything productive, but probably opened up my thoughts.
The second beginning with simply "My apartment", with I think 5 minutes to do it, ended up with a somewhat strange result I didn't quite expect, I found myself almost typing without thinking about what I was doing.
This is what resulted...
"The apartment is dark and lonely, I look around at the shadows dancing around the room. It's almost terrifying, except that I know where the shadows are coming from.
A mythical place in the back of my mind is opening up and I lose sight of the world around me, there is a swirl of colours and I don't know what is happening. The light is blinding and I hear the sound of a gentle bell ringing...
It fills my head and I feel dizzy and confused but a warmth fills me and I feel calm and safe. The colours fade into the darkness as the lights outside turn off and the shadows evelope the room in a darkness darker than before, the room is swallowing me in its suffocating blackness.
I can hardly see my own hand in front of my face.
I light floods into the room, a car drove past outside, the light from it's headlights shining through. I see a dark shadow where there once was nothing...the shadow is solid."
The last exercise writing without using the letter 'e' for about four minutes
I ended up with this:
"I found a coin on the cold damp ground. It's shining gold colour is forbidding a touch.
I want to touch it, to pick it up and carry it as my own, but it warns me of the guard with it's smiling "
Those are things I wouldn't really write if I was really thinking about it...
Very interesting...
